Academic Production Galaxy: What If Academic Libraries are Black Holes?

Black holes always had been a matter of great curiosity for scientists. The emergence of the black hole concept is at the end of the 18th century, based on Newton's law of universal gravitation. However, the concept of black hole, therefore, has ceased to be a fantastic concept at the beginning of the 20th century and especially by the introduction of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity. The gravitation of these structures is so strong that it even swallows the light. It is not possible to see or view it for this reason. The photograph which is the broadcasted with conference held on April 10 2019 belongs to the event horizon of the black hole in the center of the galaxy E87. Thanks to the event horizon around it, the silhouette of the black hole was also viewed.

Black holes could be seemed to be destructive or the end of everything by their huge gravitation. Actually, these are beginning of everything. Thanks to this gravitation they can have created a gigantic galaxy from the celestial bodies they gather around them.

Academic libraries can be compared to black holes. It seems "How will it happen?" you say. In such a way that; Let us compare the gravitation of black holes with the resource richness of libraries and how effectively they use this resource. If an academic library with an affluent collection is combined with well-equipped librarians who are doing the job correctly, it is inevitable to have an academic gravity force around it. If you approach such a library, you will enter the "Academic Production Galaxy“. And you will be able to produce more qualified and more publications with the acceleration of academic production by being influenced by the academic gravitational force of this library.

Let's open up the subject a little more: The main mission of academic libraries is to meet all information needs accurately and reliably in the fastest way. Also some trainings which are effective usage of the resources, citation management tools and academic writing skills are held by academic libraries. If these services can be prepared correctly and presented to users with correct methods, it is possible to make a profit significantly from libraries in academic production. For this reason, if the academic gravitational force of libraries, which are above-mentioned services, are strong, the contribution of libraries to academic production will be as strong as it. These powerful libraries will create an awareness through the gravity force, contribute to the prestige of academic libraries and influence their users.
